Port Blair, Apr 06: The Deputy Commissioner, N&MA, Mr. Ankit Yadav alongwith AC (MB), GM (NHIDCL) today inspected the stretch of NH-4 from Panighat to Thoratang. Directions were issued to the contractor to expedite and complete the construction work of the left out stretch in view of the upcoming monsoon. It was also directed to construct earthen drains along the NH-4 where forest clearance is to be taken so that water logging issue does not arise in monsoon season and the motorability of the road is maintained.
Further, at Harinagar DC(N&M) accompanied by Mrs. Shibani Mazumder, Pramukh Panchayat Samiti, Mayabunder and Mr. Manojit Halder, Pradhan, Harinagar and Pradhan, Swadesh Nagar visited Korangnallah which is a potential water source for Gram Panchayats viz. Basantipur, Harinagar and Swadeshnagar. They also visited the newly constructed Amrit Sarovar site at Harinagar along with inspection of suitable sites for the ANIIDCO petrol pump.
He also visited a newly operational ring well at Shantipur village, Swadeshnagar which will cater drinking water to around 800 villagers and ensure water availability to the locality.
