Shaheed Dweep, March 16: The Canara Bank ATM at the Neil Kendra Branch, Shaheed Dweep, has been out of service for the last 10 days, causing huge problems to the general public of the region. The Canara Bank ATM and Cooperative provide ATM services in the entire Shaheed Dweep region, and with Canara Bank’s ATM going out of service, the public is facing severe difficulties.
According to sources, the ATM has not been working for the consecutive 10 days, and in the last two days, the bank branch has been unable to function due poor links. Many people have visited the bank, but they have returned without any transaction. In some cases visiting Tourists are also facing difficulties in getting cash. The ATM and branch users have alleged that they are facing a lot of inconvenience.
Shaheed Dweep Island is one of the top tourist-attracting places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and the sudden outage of the Canara Bank ATM has severely affected the tourists as well as the business community. Mr. Sukumar Das, Ex Zilla Parishad member of Shaheed Dweep, said that he visited the bank in the last two days, but due to no internet connection, he waited for a long time but returned without any transaction. In addition, the last two days, they didn’t have BSNL mobile network and data connection, and many people suffered due to this issue.
As per reports, the Canara Bank authorities have been informed of the situation, and they have assured that the issue will be resolved at the earliest. However, until then, the public is facing severe difficulties due to the non-functioning of the Canara Bank ATM.
