Port Blair, Mar 01: Unnati organized an awareness camp at South point on 25-02-2023 with the support of NABARD in association with Golden Bird NGO for empowerment of women groups i.e. Self Help Groups and Joint Liability Groups. President Unnati elaborated about Self Help Groups, Joint Liability Groups and also about formation of Self Help Group Federation, their role and advantages. The participants were requested to mention the difficulties which they are facing in running women groups. The women group representatives who attended the meeting actively interacted. During the interaction, they raised many issues out of which the main are for providing facilities in a licensed place for production of food processing items either by Industry Department or Municipal Council to Self Help Groups who are not in a position to obtain license due to various difficulties, the facilities earlier provided by NGO has been stopped, allotment of Municipal shops to women groups. Mrs. Shanta Kumari also spoke on this occasion and assured that the various problems raised by them would be taken up with concerned authorities.
