
Port Blair, Feb 26: The Andaman Moplah Service Organization (AMSO) in commemoration of the completion of 100 Years of Moplah existence in the UT of Andaman and Nicobar Islands organized a august event – *Mulaqat-e-Khas* on 26th February, 2023. As part of the programme, more than 100 noted renowned personalities of the Islands and community veterans from Port Blair area participated actively. The programme began from the historical Cellular Jail, followed by befitting event at Balidan Vedi in which floral tributes were offered to the brave martyrs of Indian Independence League. Sh. Gauri Shankar Pandey, whose father himself was one among the great martyrs, led the team in offering tributes. In the brief address, he emotionally touched upon the ruthless and barbaric treatment meted out by the Japanese imperial forces and the events that led to the assassination of 44 brave martyrs and how they were deceived by the ruthless rule of Japanese during the second World War. Sh. Mukeshwar Lal, a renowned historian also shared his thoughts during the event. During his speech, he reminisced the glorious history of the Islands.
The event proceeded with a get together programme held in the Sidzern Hotels and Resorts, Birdline. Noted personalities Sh. H. N Arora, Sh. Hamid Ali, Shri. AK Biswas, Dr. Pronab Sircar, Sh. Sanjay Meshack Shri Manohar Singh, Shri Yuvraj , Shri Anant Rao , Shri Mohd Aslam and many more shared their stories of yesteryears and the rich cultural heritage and uniqueness of the Islands. Earlier, Sh. Mohammed Rafi, Executive Member, AMSO presented the Welcome Address. Sh. Yusuf, President and Sh. Abdul Siddique, General Secretary of AMSO put forth the objective of conducting the programme. The programme precisely aimed at celebrating the happiness of 100 Years of completion with the veterans and personalities of the Islands, remembering the elders, and paving way for the future.
