Kamorta, Feb 15: In an age where mobile phones and the internet have become an indispensable part of our lives, the residents of Nancowry Group islands in the remote Andaman and Nicobar region are continuing their lives without adequate network coverage. The poor network has been a persistent problem for years and has resulted in the residents being disconnected from their relatives and friends.
A senior member of the Tribal Council expressed his concern over the poor network coverage, stating that “The network coverage under BSNL is very poor and internet access is very dismal at many places. Many pockets in far-flung villages are just beyond the reach of these networks. Hence, we request the erection of BSNL towers in Kakana-Pilpillow junction, Tapong, and Daring villages for all-round connectivity.”
The lack of mobile network coverage has left many villagers in a state of emergency. Although the Kamorta area has good network coverage, other nearby villages continue to face many problems. The residents are urging the Andaman Administration to take necessary action to strengthen mobile network connectivity in the Nancowry region.
The poor mobile network coverage has made it difficult for the residents to stay connected with the outside world, especially during times of emergencies. The residents are hoping that their request for the erection of BSNL towers will be met and that they will finally be able to enjoy the benefits of a strong and reliable mobile network.
