
Port Blair, Feb 14: Public Police, a Registered NGO, working as a Bridge between the Law Enforcement Agencies and the Citizens of the Country today organised a press conference and announced the opening of Public Police, Andaman and Nicobar Chapter.
Addressing a press conference organised at Hotel Shompen this afternoon, Mr. Deo Datta, former Chairman and CEO, Noida Authority, Noida, Uttar Pradesh and present General Secretary of Public Police NGO said that Retired Justice K. G. Balakrishnan, Former Chief Justice of India and Ex-Chairman National Human Right Commission is the National Chairman of Public Police and National Board consists of Retired Senior IAS, IPS and Senior Judges and Lawyers to help civil society to redress their unresolved problems/ complaints.
He said that the very purpose of the NGO is to bridge the gap between public and police.
“Our chairman has appointed Mr. Surendra Prahladka as Chairman of Public Police Andaman and Nicobar State Chapter, Mohd. Tabraiz as the Executive Chairman, Mohd H Jadwet as Vice Chairman, Dr. R. Thulasidasan as the Vice Chairman, Mr. Tanveer Singh as the General Secretary, Mr. Arun Srivastava as Treasurer, Mr. Som Naidu as Joint Secretary, Mrs. Sheela Singh as Joint Secretary and Mrs. Ratna Kannan has been appointed as Joint Secretary,”
He added every civilian is a police in civil dress and this NGO was formed on that idea. He gave details regarding various works being done by Public Police at National Level.
General AKS Chandele, National President Defence, Public Police, Dr. T. Elangovan, Chairman Tamil Nadu, Pondy& A&N Public Police, Dr. Ram Karan Verma, Central Joint Secretary, Mr. Surendra Prahladka Chairman, Public Police A & N Chapter , Mr. Tanveer Singh, General Secretary Public Police A & N Chapter were also present during the press conference.
