Port Blair, Feb 13: The General Secretary of the NGOs’ Association has submitted a request to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration for the immediate declaration of the Summer Vacation for schools in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The General Secretary has expressed concern over the delay in declaring the Summer Vacation, which is usually declared in December or January.
The letter mentions that the remoteness of the islands and economic factors require many government employees and a large portion of the general public to schedule their trips during the Summer Vacation. With the Veer Savarkar Airport in Port Blair closing down from May 2nd to May 5th, 2023, the General Secretary has requested that the Summer Vacation be declared from May 6th, 2023, to allow teachers, parents, and students to plan their trips without incurring heavy financial burdens.
It is requested that the concerned authority declare the Summer Vacation as soon as possible to avoid any further hardships for the teaching community and other government employees. The declaration of the Summer Vacation from May 6th, 2023, will enable them to plan their trips without having to spend large amounts on airfare.
The General Secretary of the NGOs’ Association has requested the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to take immediate action and declare the Summer Vacation for schools in the territory from May 6th, 2023, in view of the schedule for the closure of the airport in Port Blair during the month of May.
