Chatham, Feb 13 – In a sad accident, one person died and two others sustained injuries when their SUV fell into the sea from the Haddo Coast Guard Jetty on Sunday evening.
According to the report received at the Chatham Police station, the staff inside the vehicle were patrolling near the Jetty area when the accident took place for reasons unknown.
The driver and the front seat passenger managed to escape and were rescued by nearby defense personnel, while the person seated in the back seat was unable to get out of the car. Despite rescue efforts by the defense personnel, the back seat passenger, identified as Pankaj, a Navik, in Indian Coast Guard, was pulled out unconscious and was declared dead during treatment at the Dhanvantri Hospital.
The two injured individuals were also taken to the hospital for medical attention.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated, and authorities are working to determine what led to the car plunging into the sea.
