Port Blair, Jan 10: The Pradhan and villagers of Gram Panchayat Ramnagar have written a letter to the President of India, Prime Minister of India, Home Minister, Minister of Roads, Transport & Highway, Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Chief Election Commissioner of India, Lieutenant Governor of A&N Island, Member of Parliament and sought immediate intervention to sort out the long pending demands for construction of village roads under Gram panchayat Ramnagar.
In the letter, the Pradhan of GP Ramnagar Mr. Mitun Das & others highlighted about the worst condition of all major village roads under Gram Panchayat Ramnagar since 2017 and also informed about the failure of Pradhan Mantri GraminSadakYojna –II.
He mentioned that village roads are in such a bad shape that it is unfit even for pedestrians for which students, old age people, senior citizens are facing huge hardship.
He mentioned that as no action has been taken to solve the problem by the Administration despite several representations, the villagers along with the PRI members of the village have passed a resolution in Gram Sabha meeting of 02nd January 2023 to boycott the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024 if the public demands are not fulfilled on urgent basis.
The villagers and PRI members demanded to hand over all PMGSY-II roads of Ramnagar village to APWD for early repair and maintenance of all village roads from UT funds and urgent repair or construction of main road from forest check post to Makham Halder house in 2023.
