Port Blair, Dec 05: Volunteer for India, Port Blair organised an Awareness and demonstration programme at Chouldhari Panchayat on Rural Menstrual Hygiene .
35 students from ANIIMS volunteered for the same. Awareness program was held at A P Sambhavan Community Hall in the presence of Member of Panchayat Samiti SmtiChaitali Roy and also at Tsunami Shelters and VKV Port Mout .
250 sanitary napkins (pads) were donated by the Pad Donation Drive – Laal Daag to the women and girl students from class VI to XII. Around 150 pads were sponsored by Rotary Club Next Gen in the presence of president P D Prasad and Rotary club members Dakshin Bhasker and Vignesh.The awareness program was headed by ANIIMS student Sanskrati Chaudhary.
The beneficiaries were educated regarding the Do’s and Don’t of Menstrual Hygiene, Stereotypes, Stigma, nutrition and diet. A massive positive response from women and students were gained as they freely asked their doubts and complications.
