Port Blair, Nov 17: Mr. AjoyBairagi, State President BJP, A&N Islands wrote a letter to Mr. Amit Shah, Union Minister for Home Affairs Govt. of India New Delhi and prayed for job reservation for the islanders purely based on domicile certificate and filling up of all vacant posts. He said in his letter that the largest employer in A & N Islands is the UT Administration (i.e Government Service). During the pandemic of COVID-19, he realized that the most secured job is that of a Government servant only.
But it is also largely witnessed nowadays that a large numbers of vacancies are being filled up unfortunately by the job seekers from other States of our Country and our aspiring unemployed local youths are left with nothing, as mentioned in the letter by Mr. Bairagi.
In Spite of all struggles with respect to limited education opportunities, geographical isolation, higher cost of living and limited resources available for any other job etc., the youths of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, still try their best to overcome these hurdles with the sole hope and aspiration that they will get some respite from the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, was his observation in the letter.
as per the information for the recently advertised 600 post of various group C post, large number of applicants (NON LOCALS) from across India have applied for the same and are going to appear for the examination on 20th of November,2022. This has created lots of displeasure and unrest amongst the Local Unemployed youths, Political Parties and Public, the A & N BJP State President wrote.
Mr. Bairagi humbly requested for 100% job reservations for all Islanders with respect to all posts belonging to at least Group “B” and “C” category, based on Islander’s Certificate or Domicile Certificate as done recently in respect of the UT of LADAKH which they have already raised vehemently in the past before the appropriate level and it is one of their Political Resolutions that their party has taken in the larger interest of the Youths of our Islands, as claimed by him.
The youths of these Islands don’t have many opportunities to explore and therefore the jobs which are meant for A & N Islands or under the A & N Administration should be filled by the candidates who are domiciled in these Islands, he urged.
He then further urged the Ministry to have a specific Rule/Law to be framed and enacted as Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Employment (Subordinate) Service Recruitment Rules for all residents who satisfies minimum basic criteria of residence as may be prescribed for the purpose of employment, considering the geographical isolation, cost price index, dependence upon the other parts of our Country and other interrelated aspects.
The A & N BJP State President implored in his letter to Mr. Amit Shah to kindly take up the matter & positively consider for appointment of only local /domicile candidate of from these Islands in the ensuing recruitment process without any hindrance to the ongoing recruitment drive and issue necessary directions to the A&N Administration immediately in this regard, in the larger public interest of the “Unemployed Youths” and “Islanders of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
