Port Blair, Dec 11: The Coast Guard Regional Musketry Championship 2012 was conducted on 05 & 06 Dec 12 at Chinthe Long Range, Brichgunj. A total of 41 Officers and men of various Coast Guard Ships and establishments of Coast Guard Region (A&N) participated in the event. The championship included firing of 5.56 mm INSAS rifle, 7.62 mm Light Machine Gun, 9 mm Carbine and 9 mm Pistol.
It also included stripping & assembling competition of 5.56 INSAS rifle, 7.62 mm Light Machine Gun, 9mm Carbine and 9 mm pistol. One of the attractions of the event was the blindfold stripping & assembling of 7.62 mm Light Machine Gun and 5.56 mm INSAS rifle.
The Championship was won by the team of Coast Guard Air Enclave, Port Blair. Dy Comdt Ankur & RV Singh, Adh won the maximum number of awards. During prize distribution ceremony on 07 Dec 12 Inspector General VSR Murthy, PTM, TM, Commander Coast Guard Region (A & N) appreciated the level of participation and highlighted the importance of handling of small arms by all Coast Guard Personnel.
