Port Blair, Oct 13: Today is the 3rd day since the Tourist Vehicle Owners of Shaheed Dweep of South Andaman pulled out their vehicle service for tourists amidst the pathetic condition of the road stretch between Neil Market to Natural Bridge of Laxmanpur Beach.
As per report, the dilapidated condition of this road has become the cause of severe inconveniences to road users. Meanwhile, in response to the report Andaman Sheekha published on 12th Oct, the APWD has embarked to undertake the repair works of the stretch of roads to alleviate the problems of the public.
When contacted, a senior official of the APWD, Shaheed Dweeptold Andaman Sheekha Daily that the department is seized of the situation arose out of the pathetic condition of the road; however, sounding positive, the official further added that, yesterday morning 20 labourers were dispatched to Shaheed Dweep for repair of road work who will uninterruptedly carry out the repair works and reportedly will complete the work in ten days if weather supports.
An estimate has also been prepared in respect of the work, he further affirmed. Owing to delay in approval of the estimate, the works couldn’t be taken up, he said. However, once the estimate is approved by the Administration, the work will be carried out on war footing, said the official on condition of anonymity.
