Diglipur, Oct 11: A few days back Andaman Sheekha Daily had reported about the wooden bridge across Kalighat Creek connecting Nischintatpur village and highlighted its perilous state.Yesterday the bridge in question broke down thereby snapping the communication system of this outlying area.
As per report, the fragile wooden bridge sagged and finally broke apart yesterday which in turn put the residents of this region in unspeakable trouble, said the residents of Nischintapur village under Diglipur Tehsil.
As it is the common practice of this remote area to carry the patients in the country-made stretcher (made with cloth & bamboo) in exigency, a patient of Nishchintapur found himself in such a hapless situation after this wooden bridge broke and who was carried by four people of this region in this very stretcher and then ferried in a dinghy to the other side for medical aid at PHC Kalighat yesterday, the incensed residents rued.
“We are the unfortunate ones, silently withstanding the troubles and misfortunes since our settlement, and don’t know when our misery is going to end; however, we only want that the officials of the administration come and see the plight we are in and expedite the process involved in constructing a permanent bridge over this horrendous and crocodile infested creek and rescue us from this quagmire of sufferings, as we no longer can endure it”, bemoaned the victim residents.
