Diglipur, Oct 05: Following the nightmarish experience that the residents of Diglipur went through during the months of May and June, when the entire stretch between Kalara Junction to Bamboo Tikrey was turned into a muddy field, completely unbefitting for the vehicular movements, causing tremendous traffic jams; now it appears that the vehicle owners are going to breathe a sigh of relief, though for the nonce.
As per report, the contractor for the said stretch M/s Kaba Infratech now seems to be back on track attending to the dilapidated patches and clearing the road slush and keeping the road motorable during this ongoing rainy season. It has also been observed that the contractor has started taking the bitumen road patch works between Diglipur to Aerial Bay.
This comes after Col. Praveen Hooda, SM (Retd.) has assumed the charge of Executive Director (P), NHIDCL, who is very much concerned about the traffic worthy condition of the entire stretch keeping in view the safety of the road commuters, an official source from NHIDCL said. The contractor has been given a final deadline for attending all of the rundown stretches after increasing their machinery and manpower on a war footing basis. The Executive Director (P)’s frequent visits to the area, as had been in Diglipur for a solid 5-6 days soon after joining NHIDCL Andaman in the first week of September, have definitely increased a substantial amount of pressure on the contractor, the source further added. As it is expected that the NH-04 is given a complete shape in every way, the current initiatives of NHIDCL leaves the residents of Diglipur with some optimism, the source said.
