Port Blair, Oct 03: On 02nd October 2022, The Andaman Helping Hands, A&N Islands (AHHANI) has conducted the Swachhta Abhiyan in collaboration with District Administration, South Andaman, Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC), The Directorate of Information Publicity and Tourism (IP&T) and Allu Arjun Army Andaman (AAAA) Team at Haddo Sea Shore, Ward No. 02, Port Blair on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi/ International Non-Violence Day.
Today, the veteran member of this NGO Dr.Muruganandam, ‘Scientist D’, RMRCPB, ICMR paid tributes on birth anniversaries of Father of the Nation MK Gandhi and former Prime Minister of India, Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji and also encouraged and motivated to all front line workers and youth of this country as you are the backbone of this country, we could achieved 82nd position out of 382 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) with help of Andaman and Nicobar Administration, NGOs and Govt. Departments. Under smaller states/UTs category South Andaman district has also been conferred as 1st ranked district under Swachh Sarvekshan Grameen with score of 903 points out of 1000 points.
The Swatchh Bharath Abhiyan was formally started on 02 October 2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi by our Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi to promote cleanliness of our environment. Since then, we have been unitedly worked and successfully carried forward this drive with support of the Port Blair Municipal Council in every corner in these archipelago till now and its continuing further. We want to make our city proud in National Raking in Swachh Sarvekshan-2023.
During this drive, 32 Volunteers were participated with a futuristic thought and total 29 bags of garbage were collected from Haddo Sea Shore, Ward No.02 which consisted all type of mixed garbage like plastics materials, Alcoholic bottles, Juice bottles, Water bottles, Gutka wrappers and plastic bags followed by Plastic Fish baskets, waste clothes, unusable two wheeler and Four wheeler tyres, waste Fishing Nets etc.
Our Andaman Helping Hands, A&N Islands (AHHANI) and Allu Arjun Army Andaman (AAAA) received Award of Appreciation for cleaniliness drives from Shri. Hari Kallikkat, IAS, Secretary (IP&T) and Shri. Prateek Raj Yadav, Directorate of Information Publicity & Tourism (IP&T) for kind contribution/Support for making this year World Tourism Day-2022 with the theme “Re-thinking Tourism” a grand success and also rendering continuous support to the Administration for the promotion of Andaman Tourism on the occasion of World Tourism Day at Carbyn’s Cove Beach on 27th September 2022.
Ocean sustainability is only the path of global prosperity. Cleanliness is the responsibility of every citizen of this country for healthy living and their green future generation.
Volunteers was raised slogans with great enthusiasm and patriotism like Clean Port Blair-Green Port Blair and Bharat Mata ki Jai at end of the event.
