Port Blair, Sep 16: The National Students Union of India State President Mr. M.A Sajid on Friday wrote a letter to the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands requesting him to initiate a fully-fledged inquiry over the incident of 25 students of Govt. Sr. Sec. School being hospitalized at G.B Pant hospital on Friday. A copy of the letter was also submitted to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration and Secretary (Education).
In the letter, Mr. Sajid stated “Nearly 25 students of the Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Port Blair was taken to G.B Pant hospital on Friday aftersome health issues were reported among them. When we interacted with the students, they reported that they fell ill after consuming some tabletsgiven by school management and a few said that it was after consuming the mid-day meal. The students were complaining of stomach pain and vomiting”.
He informed that the health condition of all the students is said to bestable and they have been kept under 24-hour observation.
He further requested the Lt. Governor to order an inquiry into the incident and form an investigative committee to analyze the cause of the problem.
Further, he demanded stringent action against those responsible for the suspected incident.
He requested the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands to personally monitor the medical help of the admitted students. He also urged that kitchens in all the schools of A&N Islands should maintain neatness in view of this incident as a precautionary measure.
