Baratang, Sept 11: As the PHC of Baratang Island has been operating without an Ambulance for more than 10 days, PRI members and the public of the region are getting increasingly worried.
In remote Baratang Island Ambulance is the only hope for serious patients as during an emergency as it is hard to get a taxi or auto for evacuation of patients.
During initial days of this month the lone Ambulance of the PHC was sent to Port Blair for some repair works and a standby Ambulance was provided to the PHC but the PRI members of Baratang today informed Andaman Sheekha that the standby Ambulance has also developed some technical snag and it is nonoperational now, leaving the entire region at the mercy of God.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha Daily, the Zilla Parishad Member of Baratang Island, Mr. R Alager Swami today demanded to provide an Ambulance to the PHC Baratang as soon as possible because during any emergency, presence of an Ambulance is crucial for the entire region.
