Port Blair, Sept 11: A vehicle ferry vessel M.V. Mus grounded close to Bambooflat Jetty due to low tide. According to the information, the incident took place when the ferry was on its way to Bambooflat Jetty carrying around 150 passengers and around 15 vehicles from Chatham on 11th September 2022 around 12:30 PM.
The boat Master tried to move the vessel but was unsuccessful despite repeated attempts. The vessel was stuck over a rock due to the low tide in the sea.
It was reported that for several hours the boat was stuck due to which the passengers were agitated and had a heated argument with the crew members.
Later the issue was reported to the Directorate of Shipping Services and Police and the Marine Police with PMF Ship Gemini reached the spot with refreshments and water and provided it to all thestranded passengers in vessels.
Later the Directorate of Shipping Services provided a vessel ML Ramakrishna for the evacuation of passengers and at around 03:30 PM all the passengers were evacuated safely to the Bambooflat Jetty.
Till the last report poured in at 9.00 PM, the crew members of MV Mus are waiting for the high tide so that vessels can be towed back safely. No damages to the vessel have been reported so far.
