Port Blair, Aug 26: Next Few Days the Islanders of Kamorta Islandof Nancowry Group of Islands are going to witness dreadful situations as the Kamorta Electricity Department has announced heavy power cuts due to a shortage of Diesel.
According to information received, the electricity department of Kamorta has published a notice for the general public that the department will carry out load shedding w.e.f 26.08.2022 at night time from 1200 am to 0300 am and Day time from 1200 pm to 05 pm due to limited stock of HSD Oil at station and delay in shipment of HSD Oil from Port Blair.
A source in the Electricity Department informed Andaman Sheekha that Diesel available with the Department in Kamorta Island will probably last only for 04 days. It was further informed that the Electricity Department has requested the A&N Administration to supply diesel as soon as possible.
As per information, the Albatross cargo ship in Port Blair will start loading HSD Oil cargo within two days and the ship will sail to the Southern group of islands. If weather conditions are favourable, within a week ship will reach the Nancowry group islands and HSD oil will be supplied to the electricity department in Kamorta.
