Port Blair, Aug 22: The condition of NH4 in different stretches, including the Diglipur area and Kadamtala area has become hazardous for the general public due to careless earthwork followed by rain.
According to the public, several stretches of NH4 between Diglipur and Kadamtala have become unfit for the movement of vehicles.
It has been reported that today at around 12.00 noon, a Cargo Jeep and one Truck got stuck in the muddy surface of the NH3 at BuddaNallah area near Rest Camp.
It has been reported that due to the unavailability of the BSNL mobile network in the area, authorities could not be informed regarding the accident. More than 150 people, five buses and more than 40 vehicles were reportedly stranded in the area for approximately four hours.
On receiving the information, Dr. P K.Mandal, State General Secretary, BJKM, A&N Islands, Advocate Arvind Nandi and Mr. TusarBepary reached the spot and immediately reached out to the Rast camp Police outpost and informed about the matter to Sub Inspector, BasudevBaroi.
As per details, SI Baroi immediately informed all the site offices through the Police Radio and towing trucks were directed to reach the spot and rescue the stuck vehicles immediately.
Dr. Mandal has expressed his gratitude to SI BasudevBaroi for his prompt action and the stranded people thanked Dr. Mandal and Advocate Arvind Nandi for the swift action to resolve the issue.
