Diglipur, June 10: The Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Nabagram, Diglipur with a delegation of PRI members comprising of ZillaParishad Member, Up-Pradhan and Ex-Pradhan of Nabagram Panchayat met the Deputy Commissioner, N & M Andaman, Mayabunder yesterday.
During the meeting, the Pradhan and PRI members apprised the Deputy Commissioner of a plethora of issues. The points raised by the PRI Members were to open a Middle School in English Medium either at Nabagram or Kalighat while shortage of furniture items especially desks & benches in Middle School was one of the rudimentary points.
Among other points, allotment of land for Anganwadi Centre at Ward No. 03 & and land for shopping complex at Kalara Junction Ward No. 03 (Nabagram) found a place in the discussion. The Pradhan also pleaded with the Deputy Commissioner to allot land for the existing RadhaGobindaMandir at Ward No. 04 (Nabagram).
The playground of Govt. PS at Ward No. 1, Nabagram is in bad shape which needs its immediate development while permission should be accorded for the repair and maintenance of all the roads under PMGSY through GP Nabagram, the Pradhan urged the DC. Single Layer Metalling Road from Shri Sachin Bairagi house to R.C. Bridge at (Nabagram) Ward No. 07 should be taken up by the MGNREGA on priority, the Pradhan observed.
The issues of poor connectivity of BSNL service, shortage of Medical Staffs at PHC Kalighat were also raised. The PRI Members also demanded that an Ayurvedic Doctor be posted at PHC Kalighat on regular basis instead of alternative day visits by the Doctor. Introduction/opening up of a Sale Depot of sawn timber at Kalighat Range Office through Forest Department was another demand placed by the PRIs.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the delegation said that the meeting was very fruitful and the Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing and gave all assurances to look into the matter on a positive note.
