Port Blair, May 12: The crisis of LPG Cylinders at Katchal Island due to the non-availability of the private cargo vessel from Port Blair to Katchal Island since February 2022 was resolved by Mr. Yash Chaudhary (IAS) Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District and Mr. Abhishek Bhukal (DANICS), Assistant Commissioner, Nancowry.
They had made an effort to divert the cargo ship MV Sakthi-II to Katchal Island which was on its route towards Car Nicobar from Kamorta for delivering LPG cylinders to Katchal. By the intervention of the District Administration, 200 Nos of LPG cylinders were delivered to Katchal Island on 11th May 2022, which provided enormous relief to the people of Katchal.
Mrs. Aysha Majid, Chairperson, Tribal Development Co-op Society Ltd., and Tribal Council greatly appreciated the efforts of Mr. Yash Choudhury (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, Nicobars District, and Mr. Abhishek Bhukal, Assistant Commissioner for instantaneous action regarding the issues of the tribal population of the Nicobar Islands and their support for all the work-oriented towards positive growth of the Islands and its people.
She said that the District Administration had sincerely helped the Tribal Development Cooperative Society, LPG Distributor to resolve the severity of the issue of LPG Cylinders to a great extent.
“The tribal community of the Nancowry group of Islands will ever remain grateful to the District Administration and put on record their appreciation for all the support”, she said.
