Port Blair, May 09: Andaman Sangeet Academy (ASA) Junglighat, Port Blair, celebrated the 162nd Birth Day of “Biswakabi Rabindranath Thakur” on 09th May 2022 at Marina Park behind the Statue of Rabindranath Tagore.
Mr. N. K. Udhaya Kumar, Former Chairperson of PBMC was the chief guest as Mrs. U. Kavitha could not attend the programme due to her illness. Programme was started with a welcome speech by Mr. Tapas Kumar Das, President of ASA.
Chief Guest and others gave floral tributes to Rabindranath Thakur. The members of ASA sang “He Nutan Dekha Dikh Aar Bar”. The guests shared their acquaintance by speech in front of the gathering. The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Rekha Rani Dhar, Treasurer, ASA, Junglighat, Port Blair.
In the evening a cultural programme was held in the Auditorium of TGCE, Middle Point, Port Blair. Mr. Tapas Kumar Das, President of ASA welcomed the gathering.
Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Constituency was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the programme with floral tributes to the “Biswakabi Rabindranath Thakur”and opened the 05th issue of Souvenir named “Rabindra Arghya-2022” which is published by ASA on this occasion.
A Cultural Programme started with the song “He Nutan Dekha Dikh Aar Bar” sung by members of ASA. Later, Students, teachers and other performers of ASA presented their songs, recitations, Keyboard playing and dance for the audience.
The Chief Guest handed over the special prize to 40 students, who performed on the occasion. The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Soumen Home Chowdhury, the General Secretary of ASA, Junglighat, Port Blair.
