Port Blair, Apr 28: The LPG Cylinder crisis is deepening everyday in some parts of North and Middle Andaman as residents claim that since last three months the people from Mayabunder to GP Swadeshnagar have not yet received a single LPG cylinder. Many consumers have already used their two LPG Cylinders and are now running from pillar to post to get a refill cylinder.
The PRIs and general public from 08 Panchayats approached Dr. P.K. Mandal, Prabhari BJP, Mayabunder district in this regard. Dr. Mandal told Andaman Sheekha that in total eight panchayats more than 4000 cylinders are required every month but no cylinders have been distributed in these regions in the last nearly three months.
Dr. Mandal informed that if the LPG Cylinders are not distributed within this week then people of the region are planning to stage agitation and organize rallies throughout the district against the CCS.
When contacted, the Secretary, CCS told Andaman Sheekha that in Mayabunder there is a requirement of around 4000 cylinders per month and for this month they have already transported around 2400 cylinders and 300 LPG cylinders are sent on alternate days. Distribution in some places has already started and CCS will cover the remaining areas as soon as possible.
