Port Blair, Apr 18: Celebrating the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”-Ayushman Bharat, Block Health Mela was organized at Panchayat Shopping Complex, Shore Point, Ferrargunj Block by the District Administration through its District Health Society (SA) on 18th April 2022, wherein, various awareness stalls of departments have been displayed on the theme- Health, Nutrition & Sanitation, also felicitating health screening of general public at the Mela itself.
Shri. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman along with Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti Ferrargunj, PRIs & other officials inaugurated the Block Health Mela.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman visited all the stalls and urged the general public to avail the opportunity provided at their door steps under Ayushman Bharat and other schemes of Government of India. He informed that District Administration is committed towards the Islanders to outreach each service at the doorstep of the community in coordination with other line departments.
Earlier, Pramukh, Ferrargunj welcomed the Chief Guest and Dr. P. Lal, Nodal Officer, Ayushman Bharat gave brief about the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in the Islands. Cultural activities along with the awareness programme by means of songs, dances, skits, yoga demonstrations and other activities have been carried out:
As a part of “Fit India Movement” & “Khelo India” in the mela, sports event among youths of the block were organized with support of NYK and prizes were distributed to the best performers.
Awareness about different Health programme with focus on AB-HWC and Ayushman Bharat Card under AB-PM-JAY were given on the spot.
Awareness stalls have been set up for prevention of various communicable and non-communicable diseases.
Food Safety stall have been setup to generate awareness on ‘Eat Right Movement India’ along with food safety testing demonstration given at mela.

Ayushman School Health & Wellness Ambassador, school health and wellness day in schools displayed.
Village Health Sanitation & Nutrition Day, displaying IEC on POSHAN ABHIYAN including take-home ration, nutrition education and immunization also promoted in Health Mela,
Department of Rural Development has set up stalls in mela to popularize Govt programs like housing, sanitation etc. offered by the PRI and ULBs.
Cultural activities in collaboration with Art & Culture department has been organized.
Health Department has provided the Non-Communicable Disease clinic services, specialist services of General Medicine, Communicable Disease, Oral Health Care, Vision testing, TB Screening along with awareness on Dulari Scheme and dispensing of medicine. The Apollo Clinic also provided the free specialist consultation services of Gynecologist & Pediatrician in the mela.
Registration along with renewal and referral of Unique Disability ID (UDID) cards of Divyang have been done.
Shri. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS informed that District Administration shall also be conducting Block Health Melas at R. K. Pur, Panchayat Community hall, Little Andaman Block on 22nd April, 2022 and Corbyn’s Cove, Port Blair Block on 22nd & 23rd April 2022.
