Port Blair, Apr 17: Ms. V. K. Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad Member, Bambooflat along with Mrs. Rasheeda, Pradhan, Hopetown met the Director of Fisheries and requested him to start the Hopetown Ice Plant at the earliest as most of the work is done and with the installation of required machinery it can begin operation.
They also demanded conducting an awareness program for the fishermen’s community about the various schemes of the fisheries department so that they can avail its benefits.
Further, they requested the installation of CCTV at the fish landing Jetty at Chunnabatta. The Director reportedly assured to do the needful at the earliest.
