Port Blair, Nov 21: The 6th meeting of the State Advisory Board of Animal Welfare was held under the chairmanship of the Lt. Governor, Lt. General (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM at Raj Niwas today. The meeting discussed the agenda points and other important issues pertaining to animal welfare activities in the Islands.
The board approved all the agenda points. The Lt Governor directed the Board members to hold the Board meeting on regular basis. He stated that the animal welfare fortnight planned to be held during the 1st week of February should be so held that it generates maximum awareness among the people about animal welfare activities. On animal birth control, the Lt Governor directed that PBMC and defence and Veterinary Wing and other voluntary agencies may be involved for efforts to stablise and control the population for stray animals in the Islands. He also directed for taking proper care of sick and wounded stray animals.
The Chief Secretary, Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad (SA) and other senior officers of the Administration were present in the meeting.
