Port Blair, Mar 08: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Unnati organized a Micro Entrepreneurship Development Programme on Tailoring, Fashion Design and Sewing Machine repair for 20 candidates on 08th March 2022 at Wimberlygunj with the support of NABARD.
The programme was initiated by Mr. H. Manoj, General Manager, NABARD during his last visit to Wimberlygunj on 16th December 2021.
On this occasion, Mrs. Uijen Ekka was Chief Guest who inaugurated the training and advised trainees to avail various self-employment programmes being implemented by Govt. of India/ Administration for empowering themselves.
C. Mohammed, President of Unnati explained various self-employment schemes and emphasized the necessity for empowerment and instilling confidence among women by acquiring knowledge, tools, techniques for interacting with Govt. system, Banks and other institutions at all levels.
Social Workers Mr. S K. Moosa, Mr. Mohammed Ali, Mrs. Sainas Bibi and Mrs. Monica Bilung also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of NABARD for empowering women through the Self Help Group movement, the Micro Entrepreneurship Development Programme and various other programmes for the upliftment of the village community.
