Port Blair, Mar 03: Women must try to keep a joyful and healthy lifestyle during pregnancy and they must maintain a standard nutritional level for the well-being of the child.
This was advised by Dr. Geeta, Medical Officer of Wemberlygunj HWC at a programme on Mother and Child Health and Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) organized on 03rd March 2022 at Wemberlygunj by Field Outreach Bureau, Port Blair a publicity wing under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Ministry in association with ICDS, Ferrurgunj.
Dr. Geeta said it is of utmost essential for a mother to consume healthy food and lead a disciplined life for a healthy child. She also stressed on having sound mental health and avoiding any imbroglio during this period.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. V.A. Mohammad Ashraf, Health Educator talked about Dulari Scheme launched on 26th January 2013. He said as per the present scheme the girl child born on or after 26th January 2013 will be eligible to get the benefit under the scheme for birth incentives and the girl children who are below 13 years of age will also get the benefit of this scheme.
He also talked about other initiatives undertaken by the DHS for benefit of the girl child. He said though the cases of Covid have declined these days one should not be complacent and must follow the regulations of Covid appropriate behavior like wearing a mask and regular hand wash.
Ms. Salma, Public Health Nurse, Wimberlygunj Hospital categorically clarified that vaccination is of utmost importance for a child. She said that a child needs vaccination from its birth to be safe and healthy. The Programme was attended by ICDS supervisors.
Welcoming the guests and the audience SandiponDasgupta, Field Publicity Officer said that they are making all efforts to aware people on various issues related to their well-being.
Officials from Information & Broadcasting Ministry Mr. J.P. Ganguly and Mr. Samya Mukherjee were also present in the occasion. The programme ended with a quiz contest conducted by Samya Mukherjee.
