Port Blair, Feb 18: Considering the threat of COVID-19 infection the Directorate of Shipping Services had earlier restricted the timing of the ticket counter.
Before Covid-19 pandemic the ticket counter used to remain open from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM but later it was restricted to 09.00 AM to 01:00 PM.
Such restricted timing caused great deal of inconvenience to the inter-island passengers and now when the COVID-19 situation has improved in these Islands Islanders are demanding to restore the old timing of ticket counter.
When Andaman Sheekha Daily contacted a senior officer in DSS, on the condition of anonymity, he said that the file regarding this issue is already under process. “As soon as the file gets approval from the top officials, the timing will be extended as earlier,” he added.
