Port Blair Jan 20: MV Bay Island, a cargo vessel today reached Hutbay with 36KL HSD oil for the Little Andaman power house.
Earlier the plan was to send HSD oil consignment to Little Andaman via MV Albort Ross on 19.01.2022 but the master of the vessel was found COVID-19 positive and the vessel could not sail for Hutbay yesterday. As an alternate arrangement later MV Bay Island was given this task.
Interestingly for this task, a large number of LPG Cylinders, already loaded in MV Bay Island, were offloaded and HSD oil consignment was loaded. MV Bay Island reportedly brought only 500 LPG cylinders, far less than the earlier planned quantity.
Today after the arrival of MV Bay Island, although the problem of load shedding which was troubling residents of Little Andaman since the last few days, is over, but now there is a shortage of LPG Cylinders.
Meanwhile, officials told Andaman Sheekha that more HSD oil consignment is about to reach Little Andaman in coming days.
“Today one more ship named MV Koate Ramaya has sailed for Hutbay with 36KL will also reach Hutbay by tomorrow morning and the problem of load-shedding will be solved,” sources said.
Meanwhile, the master of MV Albort Ross, who was found COVID-19 positive, will now be replaced by another master and within two days the ship MV Albert Rose will also sail for Hutbay with more HSD oil.
Andaman Sheekha has also learnt that authorities are also trying hard to bring back remaining LPG cylinders to Hut Bay within a few days possible for mass distribution.
