Port Blair, Jan 20: The vessel MV Kalighat today reached Hutbay at around 5.00 PM with nearly 350 passengers. But before the ship could reach Hutbay an information was sent to authorities at Hutbay from Port Blair that one of the lady passengers inside the vessel is COVID-19 positive.
Following this the authorities at Little Andaman immediately swung into action and isolated the COVID-19 passenger in her home after her arrival.
As per yesterday’s order of Deputy Commissioner all other passengers have also been put in mandatory home quarantine for seven days.
However, it is still now clear how this lady passenger managed to board the ship MV Kalighat, before getting her negative RTPCR report.
With this presently there are three COVID-19 positive cases at Little Andaman and all are quarantined. As per report there are four ILI cases, which have also been isolated.
Meanwhile it is learnt that after the arrival of MV Kalighat at Hutbay Sanitation workers of Netaji Nagar Gram Panchayat today sanitized the entire ship.
