
Port Blair, Dec 08: The Andaman Association of Tour Operators in association with Ministry of Tourism celebrated Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in a befitting manner. In a grand function organized by the association at the Maharashtra Mandal on Monday, the association also felicitated the brave Jet Ski operators who recently saved lives of six fishermen from drowning.
The function was part of the series of events organized by AATO as part of Azadi KA Amrit Mahotsav. The association had earlier organized a heritage walk, FAM tours for the BBA Tourism students of JNRM college, a photography competition and Rangoli competition to mark 75 years of India’s independence.
Mr M.Vinod, President of AATO appreciated and felicitated the award winners of various competitions and highlighted the efforts of AATO in promoting tourism in Andaman and also the importance of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations in our islands, which is witness to the immense struggle and sacrifice of the freedom fighters for our Independence.
Welcoming the gathering, Mr Saikat Biswas, Jt. Secretary of AATO briefed the gathering on the various initiatives and activities of AATO. The Assistant Director, India Tourism, Port Blair, Mr Rama Krishna appreciated AATO for being the voice of tourism stake holders in A&N Islands and felicitating the brave hearts and talented youths of the islands.
Mr K Hamza, General Secretary of AATO, proposed the vote of thanks. He lauded the efforts of team AATO and its supporting sponsors for the successful celebration of Azadi KA Amrit Mahotsav by AATO.
