Port Blair, Nov 28: An awareness program was organized by WITH YOU NGO on the occasion of International Day for elimination of violence against women on 25.11.2021 at Community hall, Shorepoint.
Mrs. Girija, DEO Wimberlygunj was the chief guest and she spoke about the various aspects of women safety. She reiterated that another future without violence against women is possible with education, essential services across policing, justice, health, and social sectors, and sufficient financing dedicated to women’s rights.
During the inaugural speech, Miss V. K Mariyam Bibi, President WITH YOU said that this day is used to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subject to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence; furthermore, one of the aims of the day is to highlight that the scale and true nature of the issue is often hidden.
She appealed the women’s to raise their voice against any discrimination, violence and requested other women in the society to support them. Mr. Rajendra Pal, BDO, Ferrargunj also addressed the gathering and talked about the need for more women empowerment.
During the program, Smti Reva , Vice President NGO, Smti Bindhu, (social worker ) Mr. Tanzir, panchayat secretary Shorepoint and Mr. Venkat, health educator, CHC Bambooflat also addressed the gathering. Later at the end of the program, E-SHRAM card for women working in private sectors were also distributed.
