Port Blair, Nov 26: The NGO, WITH YOU NGO organized an awareness programme on the occasion of International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women on Thursday in the Community hall of Shorepoint. Smti Girija, DEO Wimberlygunj was the chief guest on the occasion. She spoke about the various aspects of women safety and stated that another future without violence against women is possible with education, essential services across policing, justice, health, and social sectors, and sufficient financing dedicated to women’s rights.
Ms VK Mariyam bibi, President, WITH YOU said that the day is used to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subject to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence and one of the aims of the day is to highlight that the scale and true nature of the issue is often hidden. She appealed women to raise their voice against any discrimination, violence and requested other women in the society to support them. Mr Rajendra Pal, BDO, Ferrargunj spoke about the need for more women empowerment.
Smti Reva, Vice President NGO, Smti Bindhu, Social worker, Mr Tanzir, Panchayat Secretary, Shorepoint and Mr Venkat, Health Educator, CHC Bambooflat also spoke on the occasion. E-SHRAM cards for women working in private sector were also distributed on the occasion.
