Port Blair, Nov 23: The three-day induction program commenced from 18th to 20th Nov, 2021 was planned by aligning all the activities with Swatch Bharat, Harit Bharat, Fit India & Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav. Around 260 students of various program participated in all the above GoI initiatives.
The induction program provided a platform to all the students to understand the above initiative & accrue benefit. As a part of Fit India program students were provided yoga training while under Swatch Bharat Abhiyaan they cleaned the Mazar Pahad beach & Corbyn’s Cove beach and collected, segregated around half a ton of garbage and handed over to PBMC. Students also made around 4000 paper bags which is planned to be delivered to GB Pant & Garacharma hospital medicine counter.
Similarly, around 120 sampling of local fruits were planted in Science Centre campus under Harit Bharat programme. Further, students were exposed to old heritage & Independence struggle by taking them to Kalapani Museum. Special sessions were conducted on human values highlighting the achievement of some of the Padmashri awardee from rural India. The students were also exposed to the technology/mechanism involved in various equipments available in Science Centre. An interaction with local media was one of the event wherein students were able to understand the philosophy of journalism. The students were very enthusiastic and actively participated in all the programs.
