Port Blair, Nov 07: A private wooden vessel reportedly tilted towards one side due to ingress of water inside the engine room this evening. The matter was reported to the Fire Control Room immediately following which teams of Fire Station Aberdeen reached the Junglighat Jetty and started dewatering process from the vessel, which is operated for tourism purpose. Because of timely dewatering, the 60 seating capacity wooden vessel, is said to be stable now.
The entire fire fighting operation was carried out by a team of nine firefighters led by Station Officer, Fire Station Aberdeen, Mr. Saibal Sinha under the supervision of Dy.SP (Fire) and overall supervision of SP (Fire), A & N Islands. The cause of ingress of water is still not clear.
