Baratang, Nov 05: Residents of Baratang have been facing huge difficulties because of ongoing network issues due to weak internet speed in Oralkatcha region. Poor network issue has also created inconvenience for visiting tourists.
To address this issue, recently two 3G mobile signal boosters have been installed by BSNL, one at the Baratang Jetty (Nilambur) and another near SBI ATM, (Nilambur) each covering 100 meter radius in Nilambur area of Baratang.
According to residents, both the boosters were placed within a radius of 100 meter, which makes no sense. The local residents are demanding to relocate the second booster from SBI ATM area of Nilambur to GSSS Oralkatcha area, which will not only cover the school but also the nearest Panchayat area as most of the official works are done in online mode. This would also benefit the local people to make best use of 3G mobile network.
When contacted a Senior Division Officer of BSNL, Rangat told Andaman Sheekha Daily that instead of relocating the 3G mobile signal booster, BSNL will install two new boosters in GSSS Oralkatcha and South Creek areas after Deepawali.
