Port Blair, Nov 01: The Secretary, Rural Development, Shri Suneel Anchipaka IAS, ADM/SDM South Andaman and the Asst. Commissioner (U/T) visited Mannarghat in order to inspect ongoing works in the Gram Panchayat. The officials from revenue and other line department accompanied the team during the visit.
The team visited the Multipurpose Indoor Stadium which was proposed under the MPLADS and it was informed that the work of which is incomplete due to lack of funds. Therefore, theDC (SA) instructed the concerned to prepare an estimate of funds required for completion of the work in order to make requisite arrangements for its early completion in the larger interest of the young populace.
The team also inspected the ongoing works in the Wright Myo Guest house and further took a boat drive in the creek filled with mangroves to explore the tourism potential and access the improvements to be carried out in the existing facilities available there.The DC (SA) further directed the concerned department to fill in mud in the Wright Myo Jetty areas so as to make it viable for use. Further the team visited the APWD guest house being constructed at Mannarghat and inspected the Middle School at Wright Myo.
The DC(SA) has urged the general public to help the District Administration in the maintenance and upkeep of the amenities and facilities being already provided and also appealed them to feel free to contact his Office in case of any assistance required for the betterment of facilities in the area.
