Port Blair, Oct 12: The Second Phase of Campaign of New India @75 under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, was launched on 12th of October (Tuesday) by Dr.Bharati Pravin Pawar, the Minister of State, MoHFW. Other dignitaries present were Mr. Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary (H&FW) and Smti Arti Ahuja, Additional Secretary (Health). The event was organized by National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) on a virtual mode. College and school students from Andaman & Nicobar Islands participated in this virtual event.
Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, the Minister of State, MoHFW, interacted with a student of Navy Children School, Port Blair who participated in the competition conducted in the Ist Phase. She congratulated on the commemoration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to mark 75 year of Independence. Phase I was a mass moment of youth. Unique potential, energy and creativity of youth plays a big role in achieving solutions for the complex and mighty challenges and congratulated all the participants and the shake holders for a successful completion of the Ist Phase.
Mr. Alok Saxena, Addition Secretary and Director General, NACO earlier welcomed the gathering. He appreciated the youth in their engagement and contribution in the effort of dissemination of information on HIV /AIDS, Tuberculosis and Blood donation.
At the end vote of thanks was proposed by Smti. Nidhi Kesarwani, Director, NACO.
Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) under the direction of National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) conducted competitions in schools and colleges of South Andaman District of A& N Islands as a celebration of New India @75, ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ in the Ist Phase in coordination with Department of Education. The first phase has been completed successfully and more than 1500 students from 35 schools of South Andaman Zone actively participated in painting, collage, essay and reel making competitions.
At national level more than 1 lakh youths from 834 schools and 889 colleges from 247 district participated in the competitions and contributed in the mass movement of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
