Port Blair, Oct 10: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has demanded for construction of a 100 bedded guest house ‘Bongo Bhawan’ in Port Blair, so that it provides affordable boarding and lodging option for people of far-flung Islands, especially for those who hail from a poor financial background.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary the Member of Parliament mentioned that he has been receiving heavy demands from people of North and Middle Andaman, Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep and Little Andaman Islands, especially people from the Bangali community to construct an affordable boarding and lodging house, ‘Bongo Bhawan’ at Port Blair, where they can stay in minimum cost, during their visit to Port Blair for various urgent needs, most importantly for medical treatment.
The MP mentioned that at present people from remote Islands coming to Port Blair do not have an affordable option for boarding and lodging and that is why in case of longer stay they have to pay a heavy amount of money for the same.
He added that ‘Bongo Bhawan’ will also be a great support for the student community of these Islands, especially those, who need to stay in Port Blair before and after their visit to Mainland India for higher studies.
