Port Blair, Oct 06: Kesaria Hindu Vahini, A & N Islands extended its warm wishes to the Islanders on the auspicious occasion of Navratri. The festival of Navratri symbolizes god triumphing over evil and hence this festival holds utmost importance. Sharda Navratri is a nine-day-long festival and is celebrated with much fervor, enthusiasm and happiness, where the nine avatars of Goddess Durga are worshipped on each one of these nine days. It is believed that Durga Mata fought a nine day long battle with Mahishasur and finally on 10th day she left for heaven.
