Port Blair, Nov 07: One more Training Centre for Tailoring and Fashion Designing came into existence on 07th November 2012 under the aegis of the Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Union in the premises of Panchayat Hall, Guptapara, South Andaman. As Chief Guest of the function organised for this purpose by the A&N State Coop. Union, Mr. Anand Prakash. Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration inaugurated the said Training Centre on Wednesday, the 07th November 2012 at 10.00 AM by lighting the traditional lamp.
Welcoming the gathering, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Chairman, A&N State Cooperative Union informed that the main problem which this Union Territory is facing today is nothing but unemployment of local youths. To minimize this ever-increasing unemployment problem, Mr. Sharma added – the A&N State Coop. Union has an aim to open more such Training Centres in rural areas to improve the skill & socio-economic condition, to make proper utilization .of leisure time at home and to create feelings of self- reliance among the women folk of A&N Islands.
Mr. Sharma further said that this Union has plans to open such Training Centres for Computer Application, but finance is the main constraint. If the Andaman & Nicobar Administration provides financial supports for purchasing at least 4-5 computers, the Union can expand its activities in this direction, too.
While speaking as Chief Guest on the occasion, Mr. Anand Prakash, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration lauded the efforts made by the A&N State Cooperative Union for opening yet another Training Centre for Tailoring & Fashion Designing at Guptapara and desired that the women of the locality should utilize the benefits of this Centre and bring optimum changes in their lives. He further said that there are a lot of schemes available with the Registrar of Cooperative Societies
and NABARD, Port Blair, benefits of which could be availed by the rural people in benefitting manner.
Mr. N. K. Sharma, Secretary (Coop.)-cum-RCS, A&N Administration informed the gathering that a scheme has been recently passed by the A&N Administration through which financial assistance of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand Only) per month will be provided to the PACS towards reimbursement of its establishment costs etc.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Mr. Athristavel, GM, NABARD; Mr. Nripendra Nath Nag, Zilla Parishad Member & Chairman, Netaji Service Coop. Society Ltd and Mr. Shyam Sundar Das, Pradhan, Guptapara Panchayat. The function came to an end with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. P. G. Paul, Director, A&N State Co-op Union.
