Port Blair, Sept 15: This evening information reached at PS Chatham regarding a man in distress at coastal area of Haddo, immediately Police staff Mr. M. Santosh Kumar, PC, Mr. Abdul Sameer, PC, Mr. Ajeesh Kumar, HC, Mr. Fabinus Soreng, Assistant Sub Inspector and Jerome Edward PC reached the spot.
The team found that a man is drowning in waters, following which the team rescued the man and shifted him to GB Pant Hospital for treatment.
As per information the man namely Mr. Chandran, 45 Year, a resident of Buniyadabad was trying to commit suicide allegedly under influence of alcohol but because of swift action of police jawans of PS Chatham, the man was rescued.
