Baratang, Sept 12: Long back a few solar lights were provided at Middle Strait Jetty Complex and two were provided on the Jetty but with time, none of the solar lights are functional and hence there is complete darkness at the Jetty at night.
Although ATR traffic are cleared from the Middle Strait jetty before evening but often for emergency cases like serious accident, Medical Issues or death case, vehicle ferry vessels are operated at Middle Strait and during such transfer, according to sources it becomes too risky to operate vessel.
Although vehicle ferry vessels have flash lights but during heavy rain, such flash lights become useless. Adding to this strong current in Middle Strait makes it too difficult to berth the vessels.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the former Pradhan of Sundergarh Panchayat Mr. Biju Gurudasan said that the lights at the Middle Strait must be immediately replaced by PMB or this might cause a serious accident in near future.
