Port Blair, Nov 06: Who knew that G B Pant Hospital, which has saved life of thousands of people can also set death traps for innocent people. In an unexpected incident two people fell like rock and sustained serious injuries yesterday late evening, when they tried to lean on iron grill of G B Pant Hospital’s Walkway.
The rusted iron grill gave up immediately, resulting in the sky fall. According to eye witnesses one of the victim suffered serious backbone injury while the other suffered serious injuring in neck.
When Andaman Sheekha visited the spot it was found that atleast half a dozon of such iron grills on the walkways( used to transfer stretcher patient) and balcony have become weak because of rusting. Hence repetition of such accidents won’t be a shocking thing for Islanders.
Hope the Directorate of Health Services will get up from deep slumber and immediately replace all the rusted iron grills with new one for the safety of patents and Attendants. Hope in future the G B Pant will only heal instead of leaving people injured.
