Port Blair, Aug 29: Mr. Paritosh Kumar Haldar, Ex-Member, A & N Pradesh Council has demanded to reinstate A&N Pradesh Council with executive power.
In a letter addressed to the Home Minister of India, the Ex-Member, ANPC said that the Andaman & Nicobar Island should have a Union Territory Level Democratic Institution.
The Literacy percentage is second highest, i.e. next to Kerala. The people are matured enough, and are very much capable to take part in all-round developmental works of these Island Territory.
“Our age old demand is for Pondicherry type state Assembly, if it is not possible at all please re-instate our old A & N Islands Pradesh Council with executive power,” he added.
