Port Blair Aug 20: The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell of JNRM in collaboration with Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Port Unit of Port Blair has organised massive tree plantation in Beodnabad Gram Panchayat villages under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav- Community Outreach Programme. Around 100 saplings of different species were planted in both sides of the roads from Burmanallah to Beodnabad and Play Ground.
In parallel Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 was flagged off by Mr. Jitendra Jatoliya, Deputy Commandant, CISF, Port Unit of Port Blair. The students, Jawans from CISF alongwith local youths were participated in this Freedom Run 2.0. Later in the playground self defence tactics for girl students was demonstrated by the commandos of CISF team followed by hands on training imparted to the girls with basic tactics.
While addressing Mr. Jitendra Jatoliya, Deputy Commandant, CISF has informed that as emphasized by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, fitness always plays an important role to keep away the lifestyle modification disease and remaining active. He exhorted the students to spend atleast 30 minutes per day for practicing basic exercises and yoga inorder to make Young India as Healthy India. Dr.K.Venkaesan, HoD Home Science / UBA Cell Coordinator has briefed the activities being undertaken under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell of JNRM in the adopted villages of South Andaman District through perennial assistance of UBA.
In continuation of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav activities its proposed to have skill development training / crafts for livelihood development of women, Dr.K.Venkatesan added. Mr. M.Varadarajan, Social Worker thanked CISF and UBA JNRM for coming forward all the way to Beodnabad for tree plantation and other activities which benefits the local people. Mr. Boominathan, Ex Sarpanch welcomed the gathering while Ms.Binku Mondal, Resource Person, Department of Home Science proposed vote of thanks. Around 25 students from JNRM and 25 Jawans & Officers from CISF took part in this programme.
