Port Blair, Nov 05: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM has approved the participation of the A&N Islands Agriculture team in the 8th World Fruit & Vegetable Trade Fair-2012, scheduled to be held in Beijing, the capital city of China from November 9th to 11th 2012. A three member team from the Directorate of Agriculture will soon be leaving for China to participate in the fair.
The China World Fruit & Vegetable Trade Fair is the sole official fresh produce show covering the full spectrum of fresh produce. The fair aims to promote technology and trade exchanges and act as the most important trade platform for enhancing the planting, processing and packaging technology of Fruits and Vegetable. During the fair, China World Fruits & Vegetable seminar will also be held at the same venue, which will be attended by the visiting delegates.
Considering the vast growth potential for horticulture crops in the islands, the Lt Governor was keen in deputing the agriculture team to participate in the fair. The fair will increase and expand the exposure to different business activities going on throughout different countries of the world. This can also give an opportunity to expand the vision beyond our Islands, our country to the world.
